How much should a Cocker Spaniel eat?
A typical adult Cocker Spaniel weighs 12 to 15kg. We use the standard vet formula: resting energy (70 × weight in kg to the power 0.75), times a life-stage factor for your dog, divided by the 3,600 kcal in each kilo of our kibble. For most adults the factor sits between 1.4 (neutered, not very active) and 1.8 (entire and busy).
| Adult weight | Quieter (×1.4) | Typical (×1.6) | Busy (×1.8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12kg | 175g | 200g | 225g |
| 13.5kg | 190g | 220g | 245g |
| 15kg | 205g | 235g | 265g |
That's grams of dry food a day, split over two meals. For a 13.5kg Cocker Spaniel on Canny Chicken, the quiz shows the exact cost per day from the Founding 100 price, before you give us any details. Treats count: if yours gets a lot, the quiz takes them off the bowl.
Which recipe suits a Cocker Spaniel?
Canny Chicken is our everyday recipe and suits most adult Cockers. For a Cocker with a touchy stomach, or one that doesn't get on with chicken, Gentle Lamb swaps to lamb as the single animal protein. Puppies go on Little 'Un until 12 months. Older Cockers move to Wise Owld at around seven.

Cocker Spaniel questions
How much should a Cocker Spaniel eat?
A typical 13.5kg adult needs about 190g to 245g a day of our kibble. Working Cockers out all day can need more; the quiz asks how active yours is.
Does a working Cocker need special food?
Not a special recipe, just more of it on the days they work. Tell us they're very active and we'll raise the portion.
Can I mix in raw?
Yes. Wey Aye Raw can go alongside the kibble; tell us and we'll split the portion so you don't overfeed.
