How much should a Labrador eat?
A typical adult Labrador Retriever weighs 25 to 36kg. We use the standard vet formula: resting energy (70 × weight in kg to the power 0.75), times a life-stage factor for your dog, divided by the 3,600 kcal in each kilo of our kibble. For most adults the factor sits between 1.4 (neutered, not very active) and 1.8 (entire and busy).
| Adult weight | Quieter (×1.4) | Typical (×1.6) | Busy (×1.8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25kg | 305g | 350g | 390g |
| 30kg | 350g | 400g | 450g |
| 36kg | 400g | 455g | 515g |
That's grams of dry food a day, split over two meals. For a 30kg Labrador on Canny Chicken, the quiz shows the exact cost per day from the Founding 100 price, before you give us any details. Treats count: if yours gets a lot, the quiz takes them off the bowl.
Which recipe suits a Labrador?
Most adult Labs do well on Canny Chicken. Once a Lab is carrying a bit extra, or is getting on (we switch big breeds at six), Wise Owld is the lighter recipe: salmon and squash, grain-free. Puppies go on Little 'Un until 18 months, because big breeds grow for longer.

Labrador questions
How much should a Labrador eat a day?
For a typical 30kg adult, between 350g and 450g of our kibble, depending on how active they are and whether they're neutered. The quiz gives you one number, not a range.
My Lab is overweight. What do I do?
Enter their current weight and pick 'chunky' in the quiz. We feed to a lower factor and suggest Wise Owld. Check with your vet before a big change.
Which bag size suits a Lab?
A 6kg bag lasts a 30kg Lab about two weeks. Two 6kg bags every four weeks keeps it to one drop.
